At the Leipzig Games Convention, Blizzard showed the opening cinematic for the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King. You can stream it or download a high-resolution version of it at the official site. There is also a mirror. up over at Joystiq.

The cinematic is something of a departure from earlier cinematics. As promised earlier, Arthas is shown as the central figure of the expansion and no classes such as the Deathknight are showcased. Nonetheless, the video is of high quality as usual and looks great.

Gaaagh, for some reason posts need moderator approval before they show up in this thread. This is not intended. I will look into it. (UPDATE: should be fixed.)

One thing is pretty much certain: I will reactivate my account with the release of the expansion. Grouping and questing is always the most fun when nobody really knows what lies ahead.

One worrying thing, though: according to my Armory pop-up, I'm not in a guild anymore! How dare you clean me up and kick me out after months and months of absence!
