24 Jan 2011 11:21 - Breaching the Defenses
Nefarian: a thorn in the side of Valheru for so long. The streets of Stormwind were full of song when he was eventually slain, long before the trials of Outland or the campaign against the Lich King. Son of the self-proclaimed Destroyer, Deathwing was enraged when he emerged from hiding to find that we had slain his favourite child.
Stormwind felt the Black Aspect's fury on that day, as he swept down from the skies above Elywnn Forest, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake and retrieving Nefarian's head from where it hung. The rebuilding process for our capital will take many years, but it seems like Neltharion has rebuilt something of his own...
Rumours have started that Nefarian stands again, in the depths of Blackrock Mountain, deep below the throne room where we struck him down before. This time, there will be no body for Deathwing to rebuild. However, completing our unfinished business will be something of a challenge. Upon our descent into the mountain, we were posed with a fork in the road. To the left stands Magmaw, a lava worm bound in chains by some of the Black Dragonflight.
To the right, a Dark Iron Golem stood by three of its deactivated brethren. One golem? We could defeat it in our sleep, we snort as we run headlong into battle. Perhaps, in hindsight, we should have considered the artifact standing behind the golem. Within seconds of initiating combat, it shields itself in poison and we wonder how to deal with the shield.
Our thinking time is quickly cut short by a bolt of lightning chaining through our number: It would appear that those other golems are not quite as deactivated as we first thought. We press on, rending chunks from the new golem's shell until our blows are matched by streaks of lightning. Another shield.
The more thoughtful of us quickly realised that another golem was to be activated, and a jet of flame quickly proved us right. As the third golem entered the fight, the first became unresponsive: Perhaps the reasoning behind only having one activated at one was a lack of power? Braced against the heat, we readied ourselves for the fourth golem. As it wielded arcane magic against us, it became more powerful, crushing the plate armour of our warriors with tremendous blows. The reason became apparant as we noticed a pool of arcane power beneath the feet of the golem.
Using this to our advantage, we went all-out to bring down these golems. Surviving the cycle of poison, thunder, flame and energy was no mean feat, and many of us fell victim to one of the golems while focusing on another. Eventually, however, the golems fell to our might. Blackwing Descent was breached, and we would press on to Nefarian's new throne.
Perhaps we would deal with that lava worm next...
12 Jan 2011 23:41 - Breaking the Wyrmbreaker
Our first skirmish in the battle against the rogue Dragon Aspect, Deathwing, has begun, and we have struck a blow to those foolish enough to ally with him. Deep in the Twilight Highlands, we converged upon the Bastion of Twilight. Residing within is Cho'gall, First of the Ogre-Magi. We strode in with sword and shield, bow and arrow, shadow and light; As Guardians of the Aspects it is our duty to strike down those who challenge all that we hold dear.
Many of the Twilight's Hammer cultists stood in our way, but they were no match for our fury. Before long, we entered a large hall and to our dismay saw members of the noble dragonflights being savagely tortured: Halfus, known as the Wyrmbreaker, was the perpetrator.
Brimming with fury, we engaged the ferocious ettin. Our hubris only brought us more pain, as he twisted the battered dragonkin to his will. With a heavy heart, we had to slay those who we seek to protect - it is a small mercy that we could free them from their torment.
With each of our draconic allies that fell, however, the Wyrmbreaker grew more vulnerable until we could bring him to the sword. Such a being deserves worse than the swift death that awaited him. Full of vengeance, we pressed on.
Before too long, we found ourselves facing two of the Twilight Dragonflight: Valiona and Theralion, bickering as children. They too shall perish in the name of the Aspects, but that is a chapter yet to be written into the history of Valheru.
To be continued...

PS: Hells to the yeah, 1/4 in Bastion of Twilight - our first kill in this new, shattered world. May it be the first of many.

07 Dec 2010 04:22 - And in the blink of an eye...
...Wotlk was over. Only 2.5 years since the last update, not much has happened, oh except for that whole expansion in Northrend.
Valheru's grown slightly, with the addition of both Shadow Crusaders and Looney Tunes, we're all one big happy family now.
The raiding's gone from strength to strength, with numerous people sporting Kingslayer titles and even a few completing Glory of the ICC raider. In fact with the death of Algalon we can happily report that all WotLK bosses were defeated.
As I post this Cataclysm literally went live a mere 2 hours ago, so little to report from the new expansion except that it looks awesome. But don't worry, I'll make sure there isn't another 2.5 year gap before the next news update.
